 5 minutes reading time

• read the text
• consider the text type
• consider the purpose
• consider the big idea
• consider the tone
• consider the audience

Beginning of writing time

• write the above
• write the menu
• begin your annotations (5-10 min)

While writing

• write the introduction last
• write the most important things first
• for each element you discuss,(ie. visual rhetoric) list all of the devices, but only discuss the most important
• be sure to discuss syntax and diction
• discuss the audience in detail (can be in final paragraph or conclusion)

Finalising

• give yourself the last ten minutes to write your conclusion, introduction and edit
• discuss what will be discussed including specifics in your introduction
• revisit key ideas and audience in your conclusion
